Tuesday 23 June saw auctioneer Will Coonan of Coonan Property knock down a 43ac plot of land at Grange, Ballyboughal, Co. Dublin for €1.1m.
Four active bidders competed for the holding, which was auctioned at the Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne, Co Meath.
The farm, which offers notable development potential due to its proximity to existing residential housing, was presented in two lots before being offered in its entirety.
First to go under the hammer was Lot 1, a 7ac parcel, which opened at €250,000 and closed out at €290,000. No bids were taken on Lot 2, an adjoining 36ac block.
Opening at €850,000, the entire quickly reached €1m between the four bidders before being declared on the market. Bidding continued to €1.1m, where Will Coonan brought the hammer down, with the holding secured by a Dublin solicitor acting on behalf of a client.
The final sale price equates to just over €25,500/ac for the land, which is located close to Junction 4 of the M1 in Co Dublin, 26km from Dublin city centre.
Speaking after the auction, Will Coonan said: “It was fantastic to hold an auction with such an excellent outcome.
“We continue to see strong demand for well-positioned landholdings in north Co Dublin.”
