The streets and community of Shinrone are bracing themselves for its sixth annual tractor run this Christmas.

Taking place on Sunday 28 December, this year's event is being run in aid of the Motor Neuron Disease Association, Parkinson's Disease Association and Shinrone National School.

Attracting over 280 tractors and vehicles last year, the organising committee has described the success of the event as "overwhelming" as they gain more patrons each year, raising over €100,000 for worthy charities since its inception.

Registration will start at noon in Shinrone Hall at a cost of €20 per tractor.

Entertainment

The morning will start with a myriad of entertainment scattered throughout the hall, including guessing the weight of a champion cow, a kid's tractor driving skills course, an inflatable dart board and a bucking bronco bull.

Agricultural merchandise, tools, vouchers and hardware will be for sale, as well as refreshments being served all day to keep all drivers entertained for the daring run ahead.

This year's run will be leaving at 1pm travelling the high-roads and by-roads through north Tipperary and south Offaly.

After a lengthy drive, it's back to the village for an evening of entertainment in Spain's Pub with music starting at 5pm followed by an auction at 7pm including toys, timber, rugby tickets, hotel vouchers, autographed jerseys, merchandise, a one-month-old Hereford bull calf, a Tritan shower set, hardware and animal feed.
