A series of information meetings for suckler farmers on dosing, vaccination and weaning will be held by Aurivo Marts over the coming weeks.
The meetings will take place in Balla on Wednesday, 8 July, Mohill Mart on Thursday, 9 July, and Ballymote Mart on Wednesday, 15 July.
Presentations will be given at the events by local vets, representatives from Animal Health Ireland, MSD Animal Health and an Aurivo nutritionist.
Last October live shippers stopped buying in the marts for a number of weeks due to health problems and losses with weanlings that had been exported. Exporters blamed the problems on the failure of farmers to vaccinate or dose the animals, and with issues around the weaning of stock.
Stephen Hannon of Aurivo Marts said the meetings aimed to inform farmers on the benefits of vaccination and dosing, and to offer advice on weaning management.
