Longford Westmeath Farmers Mart in Ballymahon, Co Longford, is the latest mart to move its online bidding provider to Martbids, the Irish Farmers Journal’s online bidding platform.
The mart held its first sale last Thursday with a special sale of organic cattle taking place on Thursday 19 March. Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal William Jones, mart manager, said: “We are delighted to partner with Martbids for our online buying and selling. Like all other marts it’s part of the business now and we are looking forward to working with the Martbids team.”
On the trade, Jones said: “It’s been a great start to the year with suck calves being the highlight of the trade at the moment.

“There is some very big prices being paid for calves.”
The move by Longford Westmeath Farmers Mart brings the total amount of marts using the Martbids app to 38.
