Cattle numbers at Irish factories increased again last week, bringing the weekly kill up to 29,688 head, up from 26,938 the week before and the highest weekly kill for the past six weeks.

With more cattle about, factories have been able to reduce prices and this week the typical quotes have been €6.50/kg for steers and €6.60/kg for heifers.

With the bank holiday and short week coming up, it is expected that cattle supply will remain strong and there is little chance of prices moving up.
