For the first time in three years, Central Applications Office (CAO) points for agricultural science in University College Dublin (UCD) are above 400, hitting 432.

Points at University College Cork (UCC) have increased by 42 points from 446 in 2024 to 484 this year. To study the Level 8 course at University of Galway, points stand at 420. This is an increase of 11 points from 2024. Points to enter the Dundalk Institute of Technology agricultural science course increased by 10 points.

There was a small increase in points at South East Technological University, with the course increasing from 379 points last year to 381 this year.

The number of Leaving Cert students selecting agriculture as their first preference for Level 8 courses is down by 6%. However, the round one offers given for agriculture courses increased by 9%

Veterinary

The points required to study veterinary medicine at University College Dublin remain high for 2025, with undergraduate entry at 590 and veterinary nursing at 500.

This is an increase of one point for each course respectively compared to 2024.

Veterinary has seen 12% drop in the number of students selecting it as their first preference, along with a 2% decline in round one offers.

Level 7 and Level 6 agriculture science courses have also seen a drop in first preferences by 6% among students. Veterinary level 7 and Level 6 courses saw a larger drop of 22%
