Bord Bia has appointed Cavan native Joe Moore as its new North America manager, with responsibility for a market worth more than €2.1bn to Irish food and drink exports in 2025.

Moore will take up the role on 14 September and will be based in New York, moving from Bord Bia’s Tokyo office, where he was based since 2019.

During his time in Tokyo, Moore served as market manager for Japan and South Korea, where he most recently supported the industry following the opening of the South Korean market to Irish beef.

Over the past seven years, Irish food and drink exports to Japan and South Korea have been worth more than €1.4bn.

Second-largest regional market

North America is Ireland’s second-largest regional market for food and drink exports. Moore will work with Irish food and drink exporters to strengthen their presence in the region.

Irish dairy exports to North America increased by 11% to €1bn in 2025, with Irish cheese exports growing by 30% last year.

Irish drink exports to North America reached a value of €934m in 2025, representing 46% of Ireland’s total drink exports.

He said Irish food and drink companies have already established a “strong position” in North America.

“Irish food and drink companies have established a strong position in North America, particularly across dairy and beverages. My priority will be to build on that foundation, deepen relationships with key customers and support companies in pursuing emerging opportunities across the region,” Moore said.

Moore succeeds Henry Horkan, who is returning to Ireland to join Bord Bia’s industry capability team in Dublin.
