The Spiritan Order is aiming to close the sale of its 813ac Rockwell Farm in Co Tipperary before Christmas, the Irish Farmers Journal has learned.
With interested parties invited to submit their best bids in writing by midday next Wednesday 3 December, potential bidders are expected to be shortlisted as suitable
by the religious order by close of business on the following day.
Next, those selected will be invited to submit their final bids, along with a 10% deposit for some or all of the landmark Tipperary property by Wednesday 10 December.
All going well, it’s understood that the Spiritans envisage closing the sale by Thursday, 18 December. The dairy farm is being sold as part of the Spiritans’ commitment to make redress to victims of sexual abuse.
The farm’s herd of approximately 600 cows is also available for sale, separate to the land. It supplies milk to Dairygold and has a state-of-the-art 60-bail rotary parlour installed about five years ago.
While the sales agent Sherry FitzGerald Country Homes and Commercial is remaining tight-lipped about potential buyers, a spokesperson said there is “good interest” in the property, which was guided at over €21m.
Among those interested is Maurice Regan, the New York and Clonmel-based construction magnate.
Regan previously said he would be interested in supporting potential farmer buyers of Rockwell Farm and a spokesperson for him told the Irish Farmers Journal this week that he was “very interested still and talking to a number of parties”.
