The Department of Agriculture is reminding farmers and their advisers of the requirements to declare organic nutrient movements within their own farm online for 2026.

Movements must be recorded via the MyAgfood.ie platform or on the Department’s organic movement app by 31 December 2026.

This requirement only applies to dairy farmers in two different situations for nitrates measures:

  • A farmer applying to avail of a nitrates derogation with land parcels greater than 30km from the primary farmyard, seeking to obtain the higher derogation stocking rate allowance on that land.
  • A dairy farmer with a milking platform stocking rate of greater than 259kg organic N/ha means that slurry or farmyard manure must move to outblocks outside the milking platform or off the holding or alternatively means that a lower chemical fertiliser allowance will apply on the milking platform.
  • Recording the movement

Farmers must record the following three pieces of information for an internal movement:

  • Date of movement.
  • Volume and type of material moved; for example, slurry.
  • Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS) parcel(s) organic manure was moved to.
  • When declaring the movement, the LPIS parcel(s) and their associated townland(s) declared on the farmer’s 2026 BISS will be available to select.

The deadline for declaring an internal organic nutrient movement made in 2026 is Thursday 31 December 2026.

From Friday 1 January 2027, internal organic nutrient movements to lands within the farm holding but not declared on the milking platform must be declared to the Department within four days of the movement taking place online at MyAgFood.ie or on the Department’s organic movement app.

Information on declaring an organic nutrient movement within your farm and step-by-step guides for declaring such a movement can be found on MyAgFood.ie, via the Organic Nutrient Movement App and are also available on www.gov.ie/nitrates.
