The funeral of Dr Pat Brophy, well known to all graduates of UCD’s faculty of agriculture and food, takes place in Co Kildare this week.
His funeral mass takes place on Friday at 1pm in St Brigid’s Chunch, Kill, followed by burial in Straffan Cemetary.
The vet and lecturer is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons Richard and Conor, daughters Caroline, Serena and Audrey, sister Jacinta, grandchildren, and wider family.

Dr Brophy headed up the animal science department in UCD’s agriculture department, with a research speciality in equine husbandry.
Well regarded
He was well regarded among students for his frank and detailed explanations during anatomy lectures and dissections at UCD’s Lyons research farm.
Dr Brophy’s many academic, veterinary, rugby and racing friends have paid many tributes to him this week.
