Darragh McCormack from Johnstown, Co Kilkenny, is currently working on Tom Rochford’s leased farm in Rathbeg, Gortnahoe, Co Tipperary.

Last year, McCormack decided to buy a jet ski after he went jet-skiing in Spain on holidays.

He said he got about 10 runs out of it since he bought it, taking the jet ski out to Tramore and also to Lough Derg just off Portumna last year.

McCormack said: “The jet ski broke down one day in Tramore so I tried to fix it up myself.”

Flood

He told the Irish Farmers Journal that he needed to test out the jet ski to see if it was fixed and the opportunity recently presented itself on Rochford’s farm.

One of the fields had a big flood in it after all of the heavy rain recently, so McCormack decided that instead of taking the jet ski down to Tramore, he would test it out in the flooded field to bring in the cows.

“The field usually never floods as bad as it did this year. The flooding has done a lot of damage to the field and it will probably need to be reseeded soon,” he said.

In the end, the flooded field provided an unusual solution and he tested out the jet ski, with the help of the cows.
