Farm hazardous waste collection days will take place across six counties over the coming weeks as farmers across all enterprises are urged to avail of the service.
This initiative continues to progress hazardous waste management in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Hazardous Waste Management Plan (NHWMP) 2021-2027. It builds on the success of the 2024 trial collection days, which collected 95,000kg of hazardous waste from approximately 600 farms.
Collection days are taking place at the following locations from 9am to 4pm:
Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon said: “I am delighted to announce that a further six collection days will take place throughout the country in the coming weeks building on the success of the trial collection days in 2024.
"I encourage farmers across all farm enterprises to avail of this service and to dispose of any hazardous waste which may be on their farms.
The removal of such waste from farms ensures compliance with legislation and reduces possible biosecurity, environmental or human health risks.”
Farmers who avail of the service will pay a fee directly to the waste management company, details of which are outlined below. Users of the service will receive documentation for their records as proof of disposal.
