FRS Co-op opened a new flagship supply depot in Bandon, Co Cork, on Monday, with Minister of State for nature, heritage and biodiversity Christopher O'Sullivan cutting the ribbon on the new facility at a ceremony.

He highlighted the fact that the facility will employ 20 extra people in the west Cork town and its value to the wider region.

“Farming and agriculture is to the core of everything we do in west Cork and what something like this does is it gives a boost of confidence to the sector. Seeing FRS expand its service here is a signal that farming is here to stay.”

He also stated that there are some crossovers between FRS and his own sector in nature and heritage such as soil sampling and deer management.

The multimillion-euro investment sees FRS Co-op enhance their service to farmers in the county.

Speaking at the event, group CEO Colin Donnery said: “FRS Co-op is delighted to officially open our new supply depot in Bandon.

"With over 15 fencing locations across Ireland, it is great to have a facility to serve the hard-working farmers and contractors of west Cork.

"FRS Co-op has invested significantly to acquire and upgrade the site and we will continue to supply local farmers, contractors and the construction industry with top-quality fencing, hardware and materials for many years to come.”
