Payments from the Fuel Income Support Scheme will begin to issue next week, the Irish Farmers Journal has learned.
In total, there is approximately 32,400 farmers to be paid and around 3,000 contractors.
In June, the Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon indicated that a payment of more than 20c/l of green diesel could be on the way to farmers and contractors successful in their applications to the €85 million scheme, if funding can allow, after the original 20c/l rate was announced.
The Fuel Income Support Scheme was introduced as a targeted income support to assist farmers and agricultural and forestry contractors facing unprecedented increases in fuel costs due to conflict in the Middle East.
