The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) index has risen slightly, up 0.7% at the latest auction held on Tuesday 5 August.

Whole milk powder (WMP), which accounts for over half of the product sold in terms of tonnage, performed strongly. It rose 2.1% to €3,469/t.

Skim milk powder (SMP), making up roughly one quarter of dairy produce sold at the auction, also increased.

Some €2,425/t was paid for SMP, a 0.4% increase on the last auction held a fortnight ago.

The price of anhydrous milk fat was also on the rise, up 1.2% to €6,123/t.

Meanwhile, the price paid for butter at the auction was back 3.8% to €6,238/t, while butter milk powder fell 2% to €2,637/t.

The price of both cheeses on offer also dropped slightly - cheddar decreased by 0.6% to €3,956/t and mozzarella was back 0.1% to €4,055/t.

No lactose was traded at the event.
