A 10ac roadside holding at Ballyoughter, Gorey, Co Wexford was knocked down at €26,400/ac by auctioneer David Quinn of Quinn Property on 20 May.
Originally guided at €17,000/ac to €20,000/ac, the farm’s single block layout and road frontage attracted significant attention, with agent David Quinn commenting that there was “no shortage of interest” in the holding pre-auction.
Bidding opened at €140,000, with four parties quickly driving the price to €200,000.
The property was declared on the market at €230,000, prompting a further wave of bidding activity and the entrance of a new bidder.
The hammer fell at €264,000, denoting a price of €26,400/ac, with the holding secured by a local farming family.
Glebe House, Woodenbridge, Co Wicklow
On the previous day, 19 May, auctioneer Jack Quinn of Quinn Property brought Glebe House, Woodenbridge, Co Wicklow under the hammer.
Guided at €750,000, the 42ac residential farm attracted strong interest.
On the day of the auction, bidding opened at €640,000 and briskly moved past €700,000 with three bidders competing. A fourth bidder entered as bidding reached €740,000.
Following a short break to take client instructions, Jack Quinn informed the room that the property was still short of its reserve, which immediately reignited bidding.
€800,000 bid
The price continued as far as €790,000 at which point, the property was put on the market. Two further bids were enough to secure the farm as the hammer fell at €800,000 to a Dublin-based businessperson.
