Planning permission has been granted to the owners of Rockwell Farm to extend its cow shed and for the construction of a new dungstead.

The 813ac Tipperary farm was bought by Bovinae Investments for over €25m in December 2025.

The company, which was set up in 2025 by investors Michael McElligott and Fintan Flood, has developed multi-million euro investment plans to grow the current 621 cow herd to north of 1,000 cows “and to further enhance the farm’s infrastructure and facilities”.

The Magnier family of Coolmore have also come on board as investors in the project.

This week, Tipperary County Council gave the green light for the company to construct an extension to an existing livestock shed to include calf-rearing pens and underground effluent tank and to build a new dungstead with all associated works.

It also has separate plans lodged for the construction of a silage pit and for amendments to the roof of an existing slatted shed to create an overhang to feed cows.
