Tuesday night is to bring heavy spells of blustery rain, which may lead to difficult travelling conditions and localised flooding.

A status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for nine counties.

The warning comes into effect at 8pm for Cork and Kerry and will remain in place until 3am on Wednesday.

For Connacht, Cavan and Donegal, the warning will come into force at 10pm on Tuesday and will expire at 5am on Wednesday.

Ploughing 2025

It has been a dry and bright morning in Screggan, Co Offaly, where the National Ploughing Championships 2025 are taking place.

Met Éireann has said that cloud will build from the southwest during the afternoon, with outbreaks of rain following.

It is forecast to be a wet night across Leinster, with widespread outbreaks of rain, which will be heavy in places with spot flooding possible.

The rain will mostly clear eastwards by morning, with some patches of fog developing in southern areas.
