“We never had any major health issues on the farm, but we’re always looking - is there something that can be done for the animals, something to help as a management tool?

“We started working with our own conventional vet - we’re always seeing what we can do to stop disease.

"Then we started working with the homeopathic vet to see what we could do to prevent disease and the two of them seem to work hand in hand.

“Happy cows mean happy farmers. If they’re healthy, we are less stressed and everything seems to go better.”

“My mum was always using homeopathy since our children were small. I’ve been using homeopathy for 25 years, but not to the extent I am now.

“My biggest thing is reducing stress in the animals and weather in Donegal is desperate because we are on the coast and we’re high up, so we get a lot of wind. There’re remedies going into the troughs every week for the cattle.

“I wouldn’t have many incidents on the farm where we need remedies."

“All the treatments I do are under prescription from a homeopathic vet.

“I don’t use any mineral blocks, licks, powders or anything like that, I just use tissue salts regularly and I believe in this because it helps them assimilate everything they eat.

"They look really good on it - you can tell by their coats. Even the cows when they’ve had calves, the calves have this lovely strong hair, it stands up.”
