Jack Ansell always wanted to be a farmer, but growing up in a Cheshire village meant it was a distant dream.
When he was 10, he wrote to a local farmer Ian Norbury, looking for a chance to work on the farm. He was told he was too young, but to call down for an afternoon.
“From that one afternoon I never left, I suppose,” said Jack.
Now 23, he is an NFU student and young farmer ambassador, is involved in management decisions on Norbury’s farm, and is getting the opportunity to farm part of the Tatton estate, also in Cheshire, in his own right.
God loves a trier, and so do farmers.
