The Irish Farmers Association (IFA) has said it is giving consideration to the possibility of using electronic voting for the next IFA presidential election, set to take place at the end of 2027. A spokesperson for the IFA said the rules committee is looking at a range of options regarding the elections for 2027.
“One is a provision for some members to opt in to receiving and returning their vote electronically,” a spokesperson for the IFA said.
“There is no provision for electronic voting in the IFA rules, so it would necessitate a rule change.”
To pass the rule change, a majority vote of two-thirds of the national council would be required.
