The annual premier sale of the Irish Rouge De L’Ouest Sheep Society was held at GVM Tullamore Mart on Friday 29 August. Judge for the day was Ian McConnell from Scotland.
His champion of the sale was a stylish shearling ewe, Dunduffs Raven sired by the home bred Dunduffs Paddy Mayne from the Tinney Brothers Donegal, which sold for €800 to Ciaran Coughlan, Co Offaly.

Reserve champion was a ram lamb, Dunduffs Sputnik also from the Tinney Brothers. Sired by Dunsduff Lone Ranger, it was sold at €820 to Alan Tuffy, Co Sligo. There was a 65% clearance for males, averaging €725, with a top price of €1,200 for a ram lamb from Edwin Draper, Co Tipperary. Sired by French, imported ram, Charbonnier Pierre, he sold to Daniel O’Brien, Co Limerick. Clearance for females was 70%, averaging €777, with a top price of €1,260 for a shearling ewe, Kyleen Rihanna, sired by Tullyvallen Ultimate from Edwin Draper selling to Daniel O’Brien.
