Kilkenny once again played host to one of the highlights of the Macra calendar, as the 2026 Mr Personality Festival brought a weekend of energy, entertainment and camaraderie to a close.
A stalwart of the Macra calendar, the festival continues to celebrate confidence, character and the diverse talents of members from across the country.
Interviews
Festivities got underway on Friday evening, with contestants taking to the stage for interviews at 7pm.
This gave the audience their first glimpse of the personalities behind the titles, as each participant showcased their wit, interests and individuality.
The night continued with music from The Deere Johns, followed by a DJ set that kept the dance floor busy into the early hours.
Saturday delivered a full and varied programme, reflecting the social and fun spirit that defines the festival.
Daytime activities included a lively scavenger hunt and jiving in the Set Theatre, giving contestants a chance to relax, connect and enjoy the experience beyond the stage.
Later, the atmosphere built again with live music from Danny Burke in the bar ahead of the much-anticipated banquet.
This proved to be a fitting centrepiece of the weekend, combining good food, great company and a few surprises along the way.
Once the doors closed at 7pm, anticipation steadily grew as guests settled in for a night of celebration.
The evening’s hypnotic entertainment kept the crowd engaged before the festival reached its climax with the announcement of the winners.
Competitive
After a highly competitive weekend, the title of Mr Personality 2026 was awarded to Patrick Walton, who represented Kilkenny Macra.
Joe Hennessy of Limerick Macra took second place with UCC Macra’s Jack Murphy rounding out the top three.
All contestants should be commended for the enthusiasm and effort they brought to the festival, representing their clubs and regions with pride.
Proceedings continued late into the night with music from Sweet Freedom and a DJ, ensuring the celebrations carried on well past midnight.
Events like Mr Personality highlight the very best of Macra. They bring members together, build friendships and create memories. Congratulations to Kilkenny Macra and all involved in organising another outstanding festival, and to every participant who made the weekend one to remember.
