CC Agricultural Consultants and the ICSA are hosting specialist health and well-being speakers for an event open to all farmers this Thursday evening.
Two officials from the Health Service Executive will share advice with farmers. Dr Andrea Costa will speak on general health and well-being, and Paula McGovern, will address mental health more specifically.
HSA inspector Pat Griffin will discuss health and safety on the farm, and Kieran McGovern of CC Agricultural Consultants will talk about manual handling and working from heights.
Oliver Crowe from the ICSA will offer advice on ways of coping with stress and dealing with the pressures of farming, at a time when continuing bad weather and fodder shortages are placing many farmers in difficult situations. Listen to local farmer Matt Smith in our podcast below:
A representative from SOSAD, an organisation which focuses on raising awareness of suicide in Ireland, will also give a short presentation.
The event is taking place from 7pm to 9pm in Hotel Kilmore, Cavan and is an approved Knowledge Transfer event for all six KT sectors: beef, sheep, dairy, tillage, poultry and equine. KT Registration is between 6.45pm – 7.45pm.
