A 31-year-old man who was charged in connection with a number of alleged offences involving the theft of cattle in west Cork has consented to being remanded in custody.

Colm Dineen of Cappaghmore, Ballydehob, Co Cork, represented by solicitor Flor Murphy, consented to being remanded until a sitting of Clonakilty District Court on Tuesday 6 January 2026, where he will appear via video link.

He appeared before judge Joanne Carroll at a sitting of Bandon District Court in Co Cork on Monday 22 December.

Mr Dineen is charged with stealing 18 cattle from lands at Lakelands, Skibbereen, Co Cork, on 24 November. The stolen cattle included four Limousin cows, two Aberdeen Anguses and 12 Friesians, valued at approximately €30,000 and owned by Brian Lawlor.

Mr Dineen was also charged with stealing 13 Friesian bullocks worth approximately €9,750, between 6 and 7 December 2017 at Lyre, Aughadown, Skibbereen, Co Cork.

The accused was also charged with stealing eight cattle at Lissaclarig east, Aughadown, Ballydehob, Co Cork, on a date sometime between 11 and 15 November 2025.

All offences are contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Fraud and Theft Offences) Act 2001.
