The Department of Agriculture has still to pay out 8,315 2024 Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) payments to Irish farmers.

The Department released the latest figures following the latest payment run for ACRES on 13 June 2025.

Of these payments, a total of 2,961 advance payments for 2024 have not been processed.

Galway is the county with the most outstanding payments, accounting for 1,127. This is followed by Mayo with 902 payments and Cork with 892.

The Department has processed 51,069 advanced payments and 45,715 balancing payments from 2024.

Responding to a parliamentary question from Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore, Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon said that his Department is making progress with the remaining payments and is committed to resolving the issues that have been delaying them.

“Additional resources have been deployed and we are systematically working through the remaining issues associated with the outstanding cases."

Issues

“These issues range from internal departmental matters such as the processing of changes of ownership and the finalisation of payment calculation processes, to external applicant- or advisor-related matters, such as the submission of rare breeds and soil sampling documentation,” he said.

“Payments continue to issue on a weekly basis as cases pass all required validation checks.”
