Bandon Mart in Co Cork hosted a pilot event for the Women in Agriculture Stakeholder Group (WASG) on Monday last. Mart educational and confidence-building events were selected as a priority following requests from female farmers who attended the WASG and Department of Agriculture-run national dialogue events held last year.
Incorporating a presentation from mart manager, Seán Dennehy on the mart process along with the services offered at Bandon and wider Cork Marts network, he also outlined the process involved with selling and buying stock if attending in person or bidding online. A mock sale was also part of proceedings.
The event also featured presentations from ICBF’s Christopher Daly and Aoife Downes who discussed CBV, DBI and the mart tracker.

They also guided attendees on how to access and utilise stock information available on the ICBF website through their phones and laptops.
These WASG mart events will be rolled out at selected marts across the country throughout 2026 with each one tailored around the type of livestock sold in the host mart.
