Met Éireann has issued status yellow rainfall warnings for counties Cork, Galway, Kerry and Mayo.

Spells of heavy rain are forecast in west Galway and south Mayo, with Met Éireann warning of localised flooding, difficult travel conditions and poor visibility.

The warning is place from 12pm until 8pm on Thursday.

The same warning is in effect for Cork and Kerry since 11am and expires at 8pm.

Wind warnings

A status yellow wind warning is also in place for Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Wexford since 11am and is in force until 11pm on Thursday night.

Very strong and gusty southerly winds with gales are forecast on coasts, bringing the potential for difficult travel conditions, some fallen trees and wave overtopping.

A status yellow wind warning is place for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry from 1pm until 11pm on Thursday night.

“A period of strong winds, accompanied by some heavy rain, could bring some disruption on Thursday afternoon and evening,” the UK's Met Office said.
