Nuffield Ireland has announced that applications for the 2027 scholarships are now open.
Successful applicants will be awarded a bursary of €18,000 towards the cost of the programme, including international travel for a minimum of 10 weeks in an 18-month period.
The scholarships aim to encourage the development of future leaders within the agri-food, farming, rural enterprise and related sectors.
Over the programme's 18-month period, scholars are required to participate in conferences, training and events, as well as completing a written report and presentation on a research topic of their choice.
Successful applicants join a close-knit Irish network and a global community of more than 1,700 Nuffield Scholars across 16 countries.
International Year of the Woman Farmer
As this year is International Year of the Woman Farmer, Nuffield Ireland is particularly encouraging applications from women in agriculture and active farmers, with no formal academic qualifications required.
However, candidates agri-food and rural industries are welcome to apply.
The €18,000 bursary helps contribute towards travel and study costs. However, applicants should be aware that additional personal investment may be required to complete the programme.
Following completion of the programme, scholars become part of the Nuffield Ireland and international alumni network and are encouraged to remain actively involved in supporting future scholars and the wider organisation.
Following first-round interviews, applicants will be shortlisted to take part in the final interview stage.
Applications close on 21 August and can be submitted online through the application portal on the Nuffield Ireland website.
