Organic Trust joins Agri Aware as newest patron

The Organic Trust has joined Agri Aware as its newest patron, bringing the number of organisations supporting the agricultural education body to more than 70.

The organic certification body works with farmers, growers and food producers across the livestock, tillage, horticulture, aquaculture and food processing sectors.

Organic Trust member relations and communications manager Irene Bermingham said research carried out by the Organic Trust last year showed that members wanted more opportunities to discuss organics.

She said members wanted to give consumers a better understanding of organic production and inspire the next generation to grow, rear and chose organic food.

“That feedback has shaped our approach with education becoming a key priority," she said.

She added that the Organic Trust’s patronage with Agri Aware will give them the opportunity to bring those conversations into schools and communities.

Agri Aware executive director Marcus O’Halloran spoke about the Organic Trust coming on board, stating the importance of showcasing the work and benefits of having a thriving organic sector to consumers.

“The Organic Trust understands the opportunities and challenges facing modern agriculture and will be a strong supporter of our mission to educate and engage the public about the importance of the agri-food sector, particularly in the case of the organic sector,” he said.
