Ornua’s purchasing price index (PPI) for the month of May 2026 increased by 2.2% on April to 129.8.
The PPI implies an indicative return of 35.02c/l excluding VAT for May’s milk at base constituents net of Ornua costs to the market and having deducted estimated processing costs for last month.
This is an increase on 33.97c/l ex VAT that was quoted by the processor for April.
The estimated cost of member co-ops’ processing costs remained at 9.5c/l for the month of May.
This estimate is based on the average cost of processing the Ornua basket of products, which is not representative of any individual member co-op processor, Ornua has said.
The estimated cost excludes a member co-op margin.
Additionally, the ‘Ornua Value Payment’ payable to member co-ops in the month of May is €8.5m, which equated to 7.1% of gross purchases in the month.
