A total of €3.16m has started to issue to facilitators of the knowledge transfer (KT) programme who will subsequently pass these payments on to participating farmers who completed year two of the scheme.
Some 4,613 participants are due to receive €750 each under the CAP KT scheme for attending the required number of meetings last year.
The payments due to facilitators themselves are due to begin mid-year.
Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon said that the payments are commencing on schedule and “in line with our commitment in the Farmers Charter”.
“The knowledge transfer programme is not just about financial support – it is about bringing farmers together – to exchange ideas, learn from one another and take a joined-up approach to agricultural advancement.

“This programme is central to helping farmers develop the skills and knowledge to meet real challenges - sustainability, productivity and competitiveness.
“But it goes beyond the farmgate. It’s an investment in people and the result is a stronger, more connected farming community.”
Year three of the programme is currently under way and Minister Heydon reminded participants that they must attend at least eight meetings and have their one-to-one meeting completed by 31 December.
Group facilitators have been reminded to hold the correct number and types of meetings, as well as to ensure that all appropriate documentation is uploaded on time.
