There is good news for those heading to the National Ploughing Championships, with good weather forecast across the three days.
Day one of the biggest event in the farming calendar is set to remain dry and while there will be a good bit of cloud, there will be sunshine in the day, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather has said.
Temperatures are set to reach 18°C or 19°C, with highs of 21°C or 22°C where the sun breaks through, he said, adding that the best of the weather will be in the afternoon.
“Wednesday looks to be a very good day. There’s a chance of some fog or mist early in the morning, but that should clear to sunny spells, with highs of 20°C to 21°C and it won’t be too breezy,” he said.
Thursday
There is a good outlook for the final day of the event on Thursday.
“All in all, it looks to be very good, with highs again of 20°C to 22°C. It will be a question of how much sunshine, rather than how much rain, we get this year.”
Ploughing 2024 runs from 17 to 19 September in Ratheniska, Co Laois. Next year, the event will move to a new location.
