Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for Clare, Galway, Kerry and Limerick.
The rainfall warning will begin at 7pm on Monday 14 July and will run until 7am on Tuesday.
The national forecaster has said the warning comes due to the possibility of “heavy spells of rain with thunderstorms”.
This will bring potential impacts such as surface water flooding, lightning damage and difficult travelling conditions.
A yellow level rain warning is considered “weather that does not pose a threat to the general population, but is potentially dangerous on a localised scale”.
During such a weather event, up to 40mm of rain can fall over a 12-hour period.
Thunderstorm
Meanwhile, Met Éireann has also issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for 10 counties in Leinster.
Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow will be under the thunderstorm warning from noon on Monday 14 July until 4pm.
During such a warning, thunderstorms, lightning activity, heavy rainfall and hail can occur.
