Met Éireann has issued a yellow weather alert ahead of Thursday night for possible sleet and snow fall.

The warning will be in place for 11 counties: Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, and Wicklow.

Met Éireann has stated: “showers may fall as sleet or snow with some accumulations possible, mainly on high ground.”

The yellow warning will be in place from 9pm tonight, Thursday and remain in place until 9am tomorrow morning, Friday.

Met Éireann has warned that visibility will be poor causing difficult travelling conditions.

There is also currently a yellow status wind warning in place today, Thursday for the entire country in place until 6pm.
