North Cork Creameries has today announced the appointment of Stephen Daly as chief executive officer (CEO) of the co-op.
Daly has worked in dairy operations and commercial roles at the co-operative for the past 13 years.
Daly takes over from Michael Cronin, who held the position of interim CEO in recent months. Thomas O’Donoghue, chairperson of North Cork Creameries, recognised Cronin’s contribution stating that “his work has provided the board with a detailed assessment of all business matters.”
O’Donoghue also noted that “the appointment of Stephen Daly represents an important step as the co-operative addresses its strategic and operational position,” emphasising the co-ops strong milk pool as a key strength.
“The board remains committed to ensuring that all decisions are focused on securing a sustainable future for farm families and the important role that the co-operative plays in the regional dairy economy,” O’Donoghue commented.
“The board is guided by the long-term interests of the co-operative’s members and milk suppliers, our employees, customers and the wider community that the co-operative has served for generations. All of these matters are being approached with sensitivity as we evaluate available opportunities.”
O’Donoghue acknowledged neighbouring co-ops for their support and also expressed appreciation to milk suppliers and employees as the co-op is still assessing operational affairs and milk processing options.
Co-op chairman
A board meeting of the co-op’s board on Tuesday night saw Thomas O’Donoghue – who had resigned as the chair last week – retake the position of chair.
O’Donoghue replaced Seán Morrison who had only held the chairman position for seven days.
