One of my old Dublin pals told me that he received an unusual letter in the post this week. The National Animal Rights Association had sent him a leaflet advising him to lobby Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael for a free vote that would allow TDs to vote in favour of banning fox hunting in Ireland.
Back in May, a bill seeking to ban the hunting of foxes passed the first stage of voting in the Dáil, by a margin of 113 to 49.

While I’m told it is unlikely the bill will pass at second stage, there sure is some serious lobbying being done.
