XL Vets is running a webinar on ‘preparing for bluetongue – risks and vaccination’ on Thursday 2 April at 8pm.

The webinar aims to provide farmers with a timely update on bluetongue, including the current disease situation, vaccination options and answers to farmer questions.

A panel of experts will help give farmers clear and practical information on the virus, what to watch out for and how to plan ahead.

The panel includes:

  • Kevin O’ Sullivan, principle Glasslyn Veterinary, Moderator.
  • Professor Conor McAloon, PhD MVB DipECBHM, University College Dublin, who will provide a refresher on bluetongue virus, including the wider national and international picture.
  • Will Stevenson BVetMed MRCVS clinical director, Three Rivers and Chapelfield Farm Vets, who will share his on the experience from the past two years, including short case studies from beef, dairy and sheep farms.
  • Sioned Timothey, BVSc MSc, technical services manager, livestock, Boehringer Ingelheim, who will cover predicted risks of the virus for Ireland in 2026/27, along with guidance on vaccination.
