Met Éireann has forecast stormy conditions with heavy rains on Friday, as storm Amy rolls across the country.

Gusts are expected to be severe and may cause damage, particularly in western and northwestern coastal areas, where these winds could reach storm force.

The heavier rains of the morning are to clear to showers as the day goes on, with highest temperatures of 16°C to 19°C.

Winds are to continue into Friday night, as showers are expected to stay heavy and temperatures to drop cooler than recent nights to lows of between 6°C and 9°C

Saturday

The day is to begin windy, with gusty westerly winds and heavy showers from northern areas, Met Éireann has said.

These conditions should gradually clear to leave drier weather with some sunny spells, especially in the south of the country.

Cooler, with highest temperatures of 12°C to 15°C.

Sunday

Rains are expected to be lighter on Sunday, as cloudy conditions bring just scattered but blustery showers.

Met Éireann has forecast that more rains could push in westwards into the evening, as highest temperatures of 12°C to 16°C are expected.
