Friday will be wet and windy with rain extending northeastwards and turning heavy in places, according to Met Éireann's forecast.

Southeasterly winds will increase with strong and gusty with gales at times on south and east coasts. The rain will give way to scattered showers and some brighter spells extending from the southwest through the afternoon and evening as winds ease moderate to fresh southwesterly. Some of the showers will be heavy. Afternoon highs of 8°C to 12°C generally, but 5°C to 8°C in Ulster.

Friday night will stay rather cloudy with scattered showers or longer spells of rain.

Lowest temperatures of 5°C to 9°C with mostly moderate southwesterly winds, freshening in the southwest later.

Saturday

Breezy for most with scattered showers on Saturday morning and just limited sunny spells. The showers will ease in the afternoon with more in the way of sunny spells. Highest temperatures generally of 9°C to 11°C with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong at times in the south.

Clear spells will give way to cloud building from the southwest early on with rain spreading nationwide. Lowest temperatures of 5°C to 9°C with moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Sunday

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will largely clear northeastwards through Sunday morning leaving a mostly dry afternoon with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 10°C to 13°C with moderate westerly winds backing southwesterly.
