Gardaí are still investigating the theft of over 40 birds from a young farmer in Galway. Michael Gilmore from Corrandulla had some of his top show and breeding stock stolen between Friday 9 December and 6am on 10 December.

He told the Irish Farmers Journal this week that there was unfortunately no news on the recovery of the birds.

Gilmore said he will make a decision on whether he will restock in the new year.

He estimated the birds were worth between €5,000 to €10,000.

Show hens, modern game, call ducks, Silkie hens and Muscovy ducks were among the birds stolen.
