The Couples Coping study will examine the effects on parents and families of caring for children with non-physical disabilities. The study, which is being launched by NUI Galway, will carry out research throughout Ireland, the UK and the US in April. Dr Kristen Maglieri and Prof Brian Hughes from NUI Galway are recruiting 200 couples and 1,000 individual parents to take part. The disabilities of interest include intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder or genetic disorders.
