There are now 3,000 registered farm partnerships, Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has confirmed.

It comes following the registration of 343 new partnerships during the most recent application window earlier this year.

Minister Creed said is pleased the interest in the farm partnership model had continued to grow.

He pointed to obvious benefits such as a better work-life balance, smoother intergenerational transfer and more efficient use of land, particularly around the milking platform.

Supports

The State provides incentives to encourage the creation and maintenance of partnerships including an enhanced 50% stock relief and increased thresholds under some CAP schemes such as BPS and TAMS.

My Department has developed and supported policies to encourage the next generation of farm families

“Generational renewal within agriculture is recognised as a key challenge facing the sector,” Minister Creed said.

“My Department has developed and supported policies to encourage the next generation of farm families and the take-up of farm partnerships in such numbers is testament to these incentives.”

He said huge effort had been put into assisting farmers with applications. The minister praised staff in the Farm Partnership Unit saying they showed commitment, determination and flexibility to the process.

Applications for partnerships can be made year round with further information available here.
