O’Brien Fine Foods, the Kildare-based cooked meats company best known for its brand Brady Family Ham, has signed a €40m supply deal with German discounter Lidl that will see its products sold right across Europe.

As part of the €40m deal, O’Brien Fine Foods will supply own-label cooked meat products to Lidl’s 201 stores across the island of Ireland, as well as Lidl’s near 800 stores in Great Britain. Lidl will also list products from O’Brien Fine Foods twice yearly on a promotional basis in its 7,438 stores across Europe.

These stores are located across 14 European countries, including Germany, Poland, Spain and Italy. O’Brien Fine Foods has been owned by the O’Brien family since 2000 and operates from three processing facilities in Kildare, Meath and Westmeath. The company employs 550 people.

Lidl sources €1bn worth of Irish food and drink every year from more than 250 suppliers. O’Brien Fine Foods has been supplying Lidl since 2000 and now supplies over 80% of Lidl’s sliced hams, sliced beef and poultry lines.
