Liam O’ Meara’s domination of the SJI National League continued when he won in Galway Equestrian on Sunday. Riding Helen Sheridan’s Curraghgraigue Jack Take Flight, O’Meara posted the fastest round in the eight way-jump-off.

This result puts him top of the leaderboard with Mr. Coolcaum and second with Curraghgraigue Jack Take Flight. The Tipperary native has recorded five wins and has been placed in 14 rounds in the league.

Jessica Burke jumped clear with Norway Venture for second. Darryl Walker, who is currently third in the league, finished third with Kiss N Fly. Burke featured in the line-up again, this time in fourth place with CC Captain Cruise.

O’Meara also featured again, two time penalties meant he finished fifth with Russel Style.

Studbook series

Gemma Phelan won the final of five-year-old division with ABC Ballycruise. She lodged the fastest of the five double clears. Owned by Victoria Foster and bred by Patrick Kehoe in Carlow, the gelding is by Cruising and out of Arctic Diamond.

The class was dominated by Phelan and Jessica Burke. Burke finished second with Lux a Special Lady and fourth with Orestus Clover.

Owned and bred by Desmond Judge, Lux a Special Lady is by Lux Z and out of Aisling Clover. A clear round saw Phelan fill third place with the stallion Limestone Uno, who is by Numero Uno (KWPN).

MHS Fernhill, ridden by Sophie Richards, won the six-year-old final. Bred by the late Ita Brennan and owned by Carol Gee, the gelding is by Cardento and out of the Guidam sire dam, MHS Pembrook Lady.

Shane Goggins was hot on Richard’s heels with Laura Burke’s Galwaybay Penelope (Clinton x Chardonnay).

The final double clear came from Ciaran Nallon and Cardine. Bred by Jerry Quinn and owned by Gerard Quinn, the gelding is by Cardento and out of Tummery Limelight.

Shane Goggins was not going to be beaten twice, he partnered Carrow Kavanann to victory in the seven-year-old final. Owned by Ballywalter Farms, the mare is by Kannan and out of Cavalier Royale sired dam, Cavaliers Princess. Gemma Phelan finished second with Galaxy. Bred by Kedrah House Stud, the gelding is by Clarimo and out of Contend Heraldik.

Tim Macdonagh was the fastest of the four fautlers riding his own Hollypark Boom Boom. Bred by Clare Hughes, this gelding is by Heritage Fortunus and out of HHS Diamond Exchange.

Local riders dominate

On Saturday local riders dominated the Jim and Francis Derwin sponsored Grand Prix. Sven Hadley won the Grand Prix with Realt Na Carraig. Bred by Elsie McVeigh, this 14 year-old gelding by Lux Z out of Realt Na Mhara (Royal Renown).

Not content with the win, Hadley also finished second with the Quentin-sired gelding, Quanbell. Cormac Rafferty came third with KMR Benzini.
