Two well-located blocks of grassland are up for sale by private treaty from Central Auctions who are based in Birr, Co Offaly. The firm is seeking offers well in excess of €200,000 for each.

The larger block is 18ac at Foildarrig, just outside Newport in Co Tipperary.

The land is good quality. It is laid out in three fields and there is about 100m of road frontage plus mains water along the road. The land has been rented out for some years and used for grazing stock and as meadow for hay and silage.

There is a derelict house on the property which has been used for loading and unloading stock. The parcel is guided at €11,000/ac.

According to auctioneer Michael Harty there is good interest in the property from farmers and – because of its location – there is also interest from non-farmers. The ground sits between the town and the nearby livestock mart, Newport Mart.

Offaly land

The second property is 16ac at Shinrone in Co Offaly. This land is at Cloughmoyle and is within the town’s 50km speed limit zone.

The 16ac at Cloughmoyne, Shinrone, has some 75m of road frontage.

There is some 75m of road frontage on the R491 which heads on for Cloughjordan. This is good-quality land. There is a stream at the bottom end of the land.

Michael Harty said that similar land sold recently in the area for €13,000/ac and this land is guided similarly.
