A new nine-part country music series, On The Road With Lisa, will make its debut on Sky 191 on Sunday week, 14 September, at 8.30pm.

The show is hosted by country singer Lisa McHugh and is being filmed around the country with the chosen artists. It is part of the new autumn season on Sky 191, Irish TV, which was announced at a launch day in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin last week.

Irish TV, which is also available on Freesat 400, hopes that the show will garner a lot of interest among country music fans, both in Ireland and overseas.

The aim of the show is to take a look behind the scenes at what the artists do when they are away from the music scene. It’s all about those special interests that play central roles in their lives when the glamour of the spotlight and the stage are left in the shade.

How many of you know that Nathan Carter has a fondness for fly fishing? Lisa takes viewers behind the scenes as she accompanies Nathan on a fishing venture, relaxing in the tranquil surroundings of river and lake.

Derek Ryan is on a cooking mission – where else but in Cookstown in Co Tyrone. It seems the young Carlow singer is a dab hand at cooking and has a keen taste for sausages. They sample the art of sausage-making in Cookstown, all with a nice touch of country flavour thrown into the mix.

There’s no shortage of banter when Lisa takes Daniel O’Donnell out to the golf course in Donegal. While Daniel will never match Rory McElroy in the elite golfing stakes, he shows that (with a touch of luck) he is well par for the course any day.

“I had great fun recording the shows to date. Most of them are in the can at this stage but work on another three is ongoing for another while,” says Lisa. “I think they all loved to chat about things outside the music business.

“Robert Mizzell took me on a spin on his Harley Davidson bike. We also feature some of the animals on the lands around the house. It was all about greyhounds and the Buckley family connection to that scene when I visited Jimmy down in Athenry. The family has strong ties with the greyhound world in his native county of Limerick.

“Other shows feature Mike Denver, Hugo Duncan and Lee Matthews, where they all focus on various aspects of their lives and interests. It was great how all those taking part opened up and went the extra mile for the show. I am sure viewers will find it all highly entertaining and well worth watching over the coming weeks.”

Apart from On The Road With Lisa, Foster and Allen will also host a new series on Irish TV. This show will see the Westmeath duo linking in with current artists, such as X Factor winner Shayne Ward, on their weekly show. Mick and Tony accepted an ice bucket challenge from Ward, which was poured over their heads on the steps of The Shelbourne by Lisa McHugh and Clodagh Higgins, wife of One Direction tour manager Paul Higgins.
