A 151ac farm at Glantane West, Carriganima, Macroom, Co Cork, has been sold in an outdoor auction for over its guide price. Originally guided at €3,000/ac, the property sold under the hammer for €3,576/ac. The property was put on the market in mid-February and an auction at a hotel venue was scheduled. As a result of COVID-19 this had to be cancelled and the auctioneer Killian Lynch decided the only way it could be done while complying with social distancing was to hold the auction at the yard of the farm.

“The property was guided at €400,000 and on the day of the auction opened at €400,000 and increased in €10,000 bids before going on the market at €520,000 and the hammer fell at €540,000 as it was purchased in trust for an undisclosed buyer,” Killian Lynch said. The property at Glantane West is a 151ac residential farm holding with entitlements to the value of €10,000 and a phone mast generating an annual income of €10,000 per year for the next 10 years. It was mixed land with 80ac in the hen harrier programme.
