Daniel Lehane of Lehanes and Associates Ltd, Dunmanway, is offering a 50ac plot at Kilbarry for sale. This non-residential holding is laid out in one block and is located three miles west of Dunmanway town.

The lands are of good quality and renowned for having a long grazing season. Situated on a valley floor, according to the locals the land is sheltered from all four sides.

The farm is level, well drained and accessed by a registered right of way from the public road. The laneway continues through the middle of the farm and serves as a route for moving stock. There are no farm buildings or handling facilities present.

Dairy farm

A dairy farm in a previous life, it has since been used as a heifer-rearing block, but the current owner wishes to consolidate nearer the home farm. The land is securely fenced and water is sourced from a tributary of the Bandon that passes through the farm. Drinking points are fenced off and while there is no electricity supply, power isn’t far away if required.

The blocks’ location in a strong vein of dairy farming land running from Dunmanway town west to Castledonovan is expected to bode well for the sale. It is on offer as one block and could easily continue to serve as an outfarm, as it had been historically doing.

The guide price here is in the region of €9,000/ac, or €450,000 for the entire.

Shanacrane

Also on offer from Daniel Lehane is 70ac of land at Shanacrane. This was part of a larger sale and is being re-offered to the market. Located at the foot of the Shehy mountain, seven miles west of Dunmanway town and within a mile of Togher village, the farm is laid out in one large block.

There is road frontage on the eastern boundary near the well-known Coole mountain. There is a laneway accessing the farm from the northern side and the land is typical of the area.

Forestry

Approximately 44ac have been planted with forestry. This commands an annual premium of €6,200. The balance of ground contains bits of good land, but would mainly be rough grazing with rock peeping through the surface here and there. While not the type of ground to put a mower on, it’s reasonably sound under foot and may appeal to a mixed use of forestry and dry stock enterprise.
