Over 280 farmers in the Organic Farming Scheme are awaiting payment from the scheme, the Department of Agriculture has confirmed.
Some 1,415 participants in the scheme have now received an 85% advance payment in respect of 2016, which equates to approximately 80% of the total in the scheme, figures obtained by the Irish Farmers Journal show.
Cases where payment has not yet occurred are due to issues which are being dealt with on a case-by-case basis, the Department says.
